Ask a South Kootenay resident why they live here and the answer is almost always - "because of the lifestyle". Some have explored elsewhere and returned to their little piece of heaven in the South Kootenay, and others have come for a short stay and never left.

Our lifestyle pages are about the reformed 'urban dwellers' we like to call the new SKP's (pronounced escapees). These are the folks that have finally taken a break from their busy urban routines and realized there really is more to life after they have sampled what the South Kootenay has to offer. Once they become an SKP they realise how much more there is to life!

The scenarios presented at the bottom of pages linked below were written by a recent Australian SKP. You may identify with the sentiments expressed in the scenarios, and if you do, then this site will lead you to the South Kootenay, or as we like to think of it a vacation that extends into retirement.
