Cross country skiing is very popular in the South Kootenay region. Three local ski clubs offer over 100 kilometers of trails for all skill levels. Day passes and various membership types are available for each ski area.
The clubs are family oriented and offer various facilities and ski programs for all ski levels throughout the season. All 3 ski clubs are within a one hour drive.
- Blackjack Cross Country Ski Club is the local club and offers over 30 kms of trails set for both classic and skateskiing. Many world-class skiiers train at Blackjack.
- Castlegar Nordic Ski Club has higher alpine terrain with over 45 kms of groomed trails with excellent views of the Rossland mountain range.
- Nelson Nordic Ski Club is another excellent x-country ski club about an hour away and offers over 25 kms of rolling and varied terrain.
