Spanning the Mighty Columbia River

The city of Trail is situated on the banks of the beautiful and mighty Columbia River. Trail is the commercial, financial, and industrial centre for the South Kootenay region. The city houses the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, Cominco Arena and the Trail and District Aquatic Centre.

Trail is also known for its significant Italian Community. Before and after World War II Italian Immigrants were largely responsible for shaping the communities' social, and cultural structure. Today the terraced homes, rock walls and bright gardens tucked in to the winding streets of 'Little Italy" delight visitors from all over the world.  The Rock Wall Project is a group of volunteers who are documenting the rich history of Trail's many rock walls. The history will be compiled into a coffee table book in the near future.

The satellite communities of Glenmerry, Sunningdale, Annabelle & the Gulch area, Tadanac and Genelle extend along this beautiful valley and are rich with history and community spirit.
