Immigrants have made a huge contribution to the South Kootenay Region. From the miners from Norway that introduced skiing to Red Mountain in the late 1800's to modern day entrepreneurs such as John Lake and Robert and Robyn Felsch, who are spearheading business and tourism infrastructure development.
This section celebrates the accomplishments of several of these daring individuals. Immigrating is never an easy decision or process and many new obstacles must be overcome.
- Cezary and Danuta immigrated from Poland 17 years ago. They discovered Rossland five years ago and fell in love with its beautiful scenery and friendly people.
- Frank & Mari's Rossland Adventures started two years ago when they immigrated to Canada from South Africa.
- John Lake immigrated from Australia and started a new family and a new business, and has a passion for Ducati motorcycles.
- Adil and Saima are looking forward to winter sports as it's something Saima's never done before.
- Liz Arsenault is an Australian graphic artist and designer who "fell in love with BC".
- Dragan is a whitewater kayaker and skier who moved from Croatia to work as a vibration analysis engineer at Teck Cominco.
- Jong Chan is a Korean Student at Selkirk College and has found his home away from home.
- Geoff, chef extraordinare and owner of the Mountain Gypsy Cafe immigrated from Australia.
