Skiing

South Kootenay skiing is awesome and diverse. Our local hill, Red Resorts, receives 25 feet of annual snowfall and is part of the world famous "Powder Triangle". The resort offers spacious groomers, terrain parks for the young at heart and double black diamond tree runs.

If the powder, the park and groomers aren't enough, more Canadian ski racers come from the Red Mountain Racers Ski Club than any other ski area or club in Canada.

Recognised as the home to so many elite sportsmen and women in the realm of competitive skiing and snowsport, Rossland and the South Kootenay Region continue to develop and improve the existing internationally renowned programs and events available.

From the age of five years, young people are encouraged to embrace mountain and snow sports in both fun and competitve levels and to incorporate the safety issues, disciplines and social aspects of these sports.

Equally spectacular and equally accessible are Nordic and Skate skiing trails and of course the Kootenays fabled backcountry with its Cat Skiing, Heli-skiing and guided tours. So choose your passion, and indulge it to the max.
