In 2003 three friends emerged from Selkirk’s multimedia program, and with a fourth partner they pooled their talents and $30,000 of cameras, computers and video equipment with, and created the ‘World Famous Juicy Studios.’ To succeed in this super-competitive field they had to be different: “We have to be the most creative, wild and imaginative,” said company president Scotty Carlson. “But we also have to make it work.”
They brought a tremendous amount of self-confidence, passion and belief in each other: “We are the absolute best at what we do.” What they do is create flash websites, title graphics, video promos, video games and other electronic wizardry. Their clients include Red Bull, Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Coors, Shark Energy Drink, Free Ride Entertainment, Molsons and local firms too. In 2004 Juicy extended their global network to include Nokia, the biggest mobile phone company in the world. With another contract from Nokia, Juicy has now added three more creative enthusiasts to their team.
They’re worldwide now, but the Kootenay lifestyle is what keeps them here. “It’s tougher being here, clients still want the face-to-face, and broadband would be great,” says Scotty. “You just have to work harder at networking – and we have to be better than the rest.”
Juicy is a real partnership with each of the team respected for their unique skills and abilities. They work hard, and have fun doing it. They’re eager and they deliver. A flicker of light and they are on it, pouring on the oxygen.
