John Lake immigrated to Canada at the age fifty-five with the intention of staying only a couple of years for a holiday. His plans changed however after marrying Lenora Diane from Rossland and purchasing the company XL Quality Industrial Services Inc.
Lake enjoys living in Rossland, as it’s the first time he’s ever lived in a town. "I like the friendliness of the people who live here," he said. "The whole region’s very friendly and welcoming. I also like the fact that I can walk out my back door and walk into the forest." He added, "Coming from a big city, it’s like being in a slightly smaller pond, and you’re more visible." Lake, as well as succeeding in his business as owner of XL, has become involved in the community. "It's nice to feel you're contributing to the community," he concluded.
