There are more than 50 ghost towns in the mountains and valleys of the Kootenays. Many historic towns have simply been abandoned, but some towns like Rossland and neighboring Kaslo remain as prosperous towns to this day.

Trail is known as the "Home of Champions", and for good reason! From Olympic champion skiers to professional hockey players, many athletes who grew up and trained here went on to make history in the world of professional sports. The Sports Hall of Fame is a tribute to our champions.
The Trail Museum is located in the Trail Memorial Centre at 1051 Victoria Street. The Museum is modest in size, however it contains a wealth of artifacts, photos and unique historical items describing the history of Trail.
