The South Kootenay area is nestled in the South-Eastern corner of British Columbia in close proximity to the Canada-USA border. Our location provides visitors with several air and ground transportation opportunities.
- By road, Spokane Washington is only 3 hours away, Calgary 6 hours, and Vancouver 7 hours and of course all have airports with international connections.
- By Air. Castlegar is 30 minutes away and has a small airport connecting to Vancouver, Calgary and Kelowna and they can ticket you through to your international connections. This airport is very convenient in the warmer months but a little more unreliable in the winter months. Direct daily flights from Trail to Vancouver, BC, are now available through Pacific Coastal Airlines.
- By Bus. The greyhound bus service runs directly through the whole South Kootenay and on to the rest of Canada. You will need to cross the US border at any of the local crossings to connect with Greyhound in the USA.
